Call (909) 455-3660Whether you drive a brand-new Volkswagen Tiguan or an older one, Don's Locksmith can replace or duplicate your key at your location. The right key for your Tiguan depends on its model year — here's how Volkswagen Tiguan keys have evolved.
Volkswagen Tiguan Key Types by Year
| Model Years | Typical Key Type |
|---|---|
| Tiguan 2009–2013 | Remote head key / early smart key — typically a remote head key (key and remote in one) or, on higher trims, an early proximity smart key. Cutting plus on-board programming is required. |
| Tiguan 2014–2018 | Proximity smart key — commonly a proximity smart key with push-button start on many trims, alongside transponder keys on base models. Programming uses the vehicle’s security system. |
| Tiguan 2019–present | Proximity smart key / push-to-start — usually a proximity smart key with push-button start, and on some vehicles phone-as-key features. A replacement must be programmed to the car’s encrypted security system. |
Key technology varies by trim and region; call us with your exact year and VIN and we'll confirm the right key for your Volkswagen Tiguan.
